News Barbara Cook Extends Café Carlyle Run
Tony Award winner Barbara Cook has extended her upcoming run at the Café Carlyle by an additional month.

Originally scheduled to play the intimate cabaret April 12-April 30, the veteran singer-actress will now offer her Tribute through May 27. (The late Bobby Short was to have to played the Carlyle May 3-July 2.)

Cook's upcoming show will feature the works of composers Harold Arlen, Arthur Schwartz and Wally Harper. The latter was Cook's longtime musical director, who passed away in October. Cabaretgoers can expect to hear Cook wrap her acclaimed soprano around Arlen's "Last Night When We Were Young," and "Get Happy"; Harper's "The World Must Be Bigger Than an Avenue" and "Another Mister Right Left"; and Schwartz's "I'll Buy You a Star" and "Make the Man Love Me."

Cook will be accompanied at the Carlyle by musical director Michael Kosarin on piano and Peter Donovan on bass. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 8:45 PM with late shows Saturday nights at 10:45 PM.

Barbara Cook has starred on Broadway in Flahooley, Candide, The Gay Life, The Music Man and She Loves Me. She received a Best Featured Actress in a Musical Tony Award for her performance in The Music Man, and her one-woman show, Mostly Sondheim, was nominated for a Tony in the Best Special Theatrical Event category. Cook was most recently on the New York stage in Barbara Cook's Broadway. Both Mostly Sondheim and Barbara Cook's Broadway were recorded for DRG.
