News Barbara Cook to Record New CD, "Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder," for DRG; Song List Announced Tony Award winner Barbara Cook will head into the recording studio July 30 to lay down the vocals for her latest DRG release.

Barbara Cook sings at Carnegie Hall Nov. 18.

Cook will record her newest disc at Legacy Recording Studios in Manhattan. Entitled "Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder," the DRG recording is scheduled to arrive in stores Nov. 6.

Grammy winner Hugh Fordin — president of DRG Records Incorporated — will produce "Rainbow," which will feature arrangements by Lee Musiker, who will also conduct the band.

Barbara Cook has starred on Broadway in Flahooley, Candide, The Gay Life, The Music Man and She Loves Me. She received a Best Featured Actress in a Musical Tony Award for her performance in The Music Man, and her one-woman show, Mostly Sondheim, was nominated for a Tony in the Best Special Theatrical Event category. Cook was most recently on the New York stage in Barbara Cook's Broadway. Both Mostly Sondheim and Barbara Cook's Broadway were recorded for DRG. Cook made her solo debut at the Metropolitan Opera, which was also released on DRG Records.
