PlayBlog Barney Frank Will Join The Temperamentals Post-Show Chat Congressman Barney Frank (D-Massachusetts) will be the guest at “TalkOut Monday” on May 3. The post-show discussion will follow that evening’s performance of The Temperamentals at New World Stages.


Rep. Frank has been in Congress since 1981. Before being elected to that position, he was a Massachusetts State Representative and an assistant to the Mayor of Boston. In 1982, he won his first full term, and has been re-elected by wide margins ever since. In 1987, he became the second openly gay member of the House of Representatives, and he has become one of the most prominent LGBT politicians in the United States.

The Temperamentals tells the story of Harry Hay and Rudy Gernreich, a real-life couple who founded the first gay rights organization in America in the 1950s.

Thomas Jay Ryan (In the Next Room) stars as Harry Hay and Michael Urie ("Ugly Betty") stars as Rudy Gernreich. Urie was recently nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award for his performance, and the show received a nomination for Outstanding Play. The Jon Marans play is directed by Jonathan Silverstein.
