News Batman Live Arena Tour to Spread Its Wings in the U.K. The new arena show Batman Live, based on the popular DC Comic, will launch an international tour July 20, 2011, in the U.K. prior to its U.S. arrival, according to Variety.

WB Consumer Products, DC Entertainment and Water Lane Productions produce the venture that will feature Anthony van Laast (Mamma Mia!, Sister Act) as creative director alongside co-director James Powell.

Batman Live will have music by James Brett, set design by Es Devlin and theatrical stuntwork devised by Circus Space.

Following its Manchester debut on July 20, 2011, Batman will play stops throughout the U.K. (including London Aug. 24-Sept. 4, 2011) and Ireland through October 2011. Dates of the European and U.S. tour will be announced at a later date.

A writer was not announced, though previous reports cited "Batman" and "Superman" television series writer Alan Burnett was attached.
