It will be a homecoming for the musical, which was created, workshopped and developed at the Barrington in winter 2004. Spelling Bee, which became a hot ticket at BSC in summer 2004, will again play the Massachusetts venue June 11-July 12, 2008. Opening night is scheduled for June 15. A co-production with the North Shore Music Theatre, the production will then play that Beverly, MA, venue Aug. 12-31.
Directed by Jeremy Dobrish with choreography by Dan Knechtges, the production will feature Emy Baysic, Miguel Cervantes, Hannah Del Monte, Molly Ephraim, Demond Green, Clifton Guterman, Michael Mastro, Eric Peterson and Sally Wilfert. Brian Usifer is music director.
In other Barrington news, Gretchen Egolf will play Amanda, Rebecca Brooksher will be Sibyl and Tandy Cronyn will portray Louise in the Barrington's upcoming production of Noel Coward's Private Lives, which is scheduled to run Aug. 10-26. Julianne Boyd directs the production, which also features the previously announced Christopher Innvar as Elyot and Mark H. Dold as Victor.
Barry Edelstein will direct Richard Greenberg's The Violet Hour July 16-27. Casting will be announced shortly.
