Back in 1988, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS tried out a holiday fund raising idea -- a holiday card service -- to take the hassle out of sending Christmas and Chanukah cards. Now the popular service, which last year raised over $95,000 for BC/EFA, returns for its eighth season. Here's how it works, for a minimum $10 donation per card: Participants choose a design from an attractive series of originally designed cards. Then they give their mailing list to BC/EFA. The organization then hand-signs in calligraphy, personalizes and mails each card. Not only that; next year the organization will mail the list back to the customer for updates and changes.

Designs on four of the cards are by Broadway Kids, whose pictures (two Christmas trees, two snowmen) were chosen out of an artwork contest for young Broadway performers two months ago.

Those not interested in the personalized greetings and mailings can also buy boxes of the specially designed cards for personal use. Cards with drawings by the Broadway Kids, or with holiday scenes on the front run, $35 for a box of 12. Smaller cards, with a be-ribboned bear on the cover, are $15 for a box of 8.
