Appropriately enough, given that the Aldwych was, for many years, the home of Ben Travers' run of farces, Sir Alan Ayckbourn's Bedroom Farce is to be staged there in April.
The only details available at the moment are that the lead roles will be played by veteran comic actors Richard Briers and June Whitfield, and that the play will begin previews on April 8. Bedroom Farce is directed by Loveday Ingram and produced by Michael Codron.
Briers and Whitfield are best known for their roles in long-running television comedies like The Good Life (Briers) and Absolutely Fabulous (Whitfield) but both are very experienced stage performers and having them in the lead is likely to send the cash tills ringing in the Aldwych box office.
Further details will be announced later.
