National Tour News Beetlejuice to Embark on North American Tour

The Netherworld is hitting the road with a launch planned in San Francisco.

On the heels of its return to Broadway, Beetlejuice is revealing plans for a North American tour that will launch at San Francisco's Golden Gate Theatre December 2022. Already on the schedule are stops in Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. Casting is to be announced.

Based on Tim Burton’s cult favorite film, Beetlejuice tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager whose life changes when she meets a recently deceased couple and Beetlejuice, a demon with a thing for stripes. When Lydia calls on Beetlejuice to scare away anyone with a pulse, this double-crossing specter unleashes a (nether)world of pandemonium, and the biggest sandworm Broadway has ever seen.

Alex Timbers

Alex Timbers directs the musical, which features an original score by Tony nominee Eddie Perfect, and a book by Tony nominees Scott Brown and Anthony King. Music supervision, orchestrations and incidental music are by Kris Kukul, and choreography is by Connor Gallagher.

The creative team also includes scenic designer David Korins, costume designer William Ivey Long, lighting designer Kenneth Posner, sound designer Peter Hylenski, projection designer Peter Nigrini, puppet designer Michael Curry, special effects designer Jeremy Chernick, hair and wig designer Charles G. LaPointe, and make-up designer Joe Dulude II. The production will be cast by The Telsey Office.

The musical premiered on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre in 2019, earning eight Tony Award nominations including Best Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Book of a Musical. After shutting down with the rest of Broadway due to COVID in March, 2020, the production closed to make way for the current revival of The Music Man. In true Beetlejuice fashion, the musical made a Broadway return April 8, re-opening at the Marquis Theatre with much of its original cast, including Alex Brightman, Kerry Butler, David Josefsberg, Obie award winner Adam Dannheisser, Lortel winner Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer, Kelvin Moon Loh, Danny Rutigliano, and Dana Steingold.

Beetlejuice is produced on Broadway by Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Langley Park Productions, Jeffrey Richards, JAM Theatricals, ENDEAVOR, Rebecca Gold, Ben Lowy, James L. Nederlander, Warner/Chappell Music INC., and Zendog Productions, in association with DeRoy Federman Productions/42nd.club, Latitude Link, Mary Lu Roffe, Terry Schnuck, Marc Bell & Jeff Hollander, Jane Bergere, Joanna Carson, Darren Deverna & Jere Harris, Mark S.
