News Before Goodspeed, Band Geeks Will Blow Their Horns in NYC Concert Band Geeks, the new musical about misfit high-school musicians, will get a Manhattan concert performance 8 PM March 1 at Ars Nova.

Gordon Greenberg, who will helm a full production later this year for Goodspeed Musicals, directs the concert. The show is by Tommy Newman, Gordon Greenberg, Gaby Alter and Mark Allen. The reading cast will feature John Bolton (Curtains), Jill Abramovitz (9 to 5), Lindsay Mendez (Grease), Jared Gertner (Ordinary Days), Doug Lyons (Dreamgirls), Patti Hollbrook (Xanadu), Kat Palardy (First Wives Club), Marie-France Arcilla, Jeremy Sevelovitz, Mike Millan, Edmund Bagnell and Griffin Matthews.

Here's how the authors bill the show: "Returning to where it all began, the Band Geeks (creative) team brings their beloved high-stepping tribute to high school marching bands and misfits everywhere to Ars Nova for a sneak preview concert, in preparation for the piece's May production at Goodspeed Musicals."
