News Ben Vereen Named Honorary Chairman of 2012 New York Musical Theatre Festival The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) announced June 25 that Tony Award winner Ben Vereen, who will play 54 Below in July, has been named the honorary chairman of the 2012 festival. He will also host the ninth annual season opening night July 9.

In a statement Vereen said, "The theater was my first training ground. It taught me discipline, dedication and appreciation of hard work and values that will stay with me a lifetime. Admission to the NYMF opening-night celebration is available only to NYMF members, patrons and participants.

Vereen will offer his concert act, Steppin’ Out With Ben Vereen, July 10-21 at 54 Below.

Memberships and single tickets for the 2012 New York Musical Theatre Festival are available at www.nymf.org, the NYMF Hub (330 W. 42nd Street) or by calling (212) 352-3101.
