News Benton, Hathaway and Sheehan Set for As Thousands Cheer at Lyric Stage Casting has been announced for the Lyric Stage production of the Irving Berlin-Moss Hart revue As Thousands Cheer, which arrives in Dallas April 24.

Len Pfluger directs the Depression Era revue that will run through May 9 in the Irving Arts Center's Dupree Theatre. Music direction is by Gary Okeson.

The cast of As Thousands Cheer includes Feleceia Benton, Brian Patrick Hathaway, Doug Jackson, Shannon McGrann, Randy Pearlman and Diana Sheehan.

As Thousands Cheer skewers politics, celebrities and tabloid headlines of the 1930's. Standards spawned from the production include "Heatwave," "Suppertime," "Easter Parade," "Miss Lonely Heart" and "I've Got Harlem on My Mind."

Designing the production are Scott Osborne (scenic design), Susan A. White (lighting design), Drenda Lewis (costume design) and Jane Quetin (prop design).

As Thousands Cheer originally premiered on Broadway at the Music Box Theatre Sept. 30, 1933, where it ran for 400 performances. Original cast members included Ethel Waters, Clifton Webb and Jose Limon. A successful revival was produced Off-Broadway by the Drama Dept. in 1998 starring BD Wong, Judy Kuhn, Howard McGillin, Kevin Chamberlin, Mary Beth Peil and Paula Newsome.
