News Berkshire Theatre Festival Has Nelson and Grant in Talley's Folly, July 29-Aug. 9 The mainstage season at the Berkshire Theatre Festival continues July 29 with what is arguably Lanford Wilson's best known play, and certainly one of his most frequently produced: Talley's Folly. The show, directed by Anders Cato, runs to Aug. 9.

Broadway and Off-Broadway favorite Mark Nelson (The Invention of Love, Picasso at the Lapin Agile) plays the Jewish Matt, who spends the play's 100-minute running time trying to convince Christian Sally, whose family are anti-Semitic Missourians, to marry him. Kate Jennings Grant plays Sally. Grant starred on Broadway in Proof and Off Broadway in Radiant Baby. The play was considered for production earlier this year by Off Broadway's Signature Theatre Company, which dedicated its 2003-04 season to Wilson. However, when star Cynthia Nixon became pregnant, another Talley trilogy play, Fifth of July, was substituted. July became an unexpected hit.
