News   Bernstein on Broadway to Feature Tony Winner Judy Kaye
Caramoor International Music Festival will present Bernstein on Broadway July 1 at the Venetian Theatre in Katonah, NY.

Jamie Bernstein, the daughter of late composer Leonard Bernstein, will host the 8 PM concert, which will features songs and dance music from West Side Story, Candide, On the Town and Wonderful Town. Those scheduled to lend their voices to the evening include Tony Award winner Judy Kaye, Lisa Vroman and James Martin. Michael Barrett will conduct the Orchestra of St. Luke's.

About the upcoming concert, host Bernstein said in a statement, "You might think I'd be weary by now of hearing my father's show tunes, but I still can't get enough of them. And hearing them sung with magnificent singers like these, backed up by a superb orchestra like the St. Luke's, and conducted by one of the great Bernstein interpreters, Michael Barrett — and in the Venetian Theatre at Caramoor, yet — well, that's more delight than one could hope for."

Judy Kaye was most recently on Broadway as the vocally challenged Florence Foster Jenkins in Souvenir, a role that just earned the actress a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Play. She played the role of Rosie in the Broadway company of Mamma Mia!, a part for which she received a 2002 Tony Award nomination. Kaye won the Tony for her performance as Carlotta in the New York production of The Phantom of the Opera and also received a Theatre World Award for her work in On the Twentieth Century. Kaye also starred on Broadway in Ragtime, and her two solo recordings are titled "Diva by Diva" and "Songs from the Silver Screen."

Kaye will also return to Broadway June 20-25, when she plays the role of Mrs. Lovett in the hit revival of Sweeney Todd during Tony winner Patti LuPone's vacation.
