The Bristol Riverside Theatre in Bristol, PA is presenting the Bock-Harnick-Masteroff musical She Loves Me Dec. 1-20, with an opening night Dec. 3.
The musical, with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and book by Joe Masteroff, is set in a Budapest perfumery , where two employees who hate each other behind the counter, find love through the mail. Originally a play by Miklos Laszlo called Parfumerie, the story has been made into numerous incarnations including "The Shop Around the Corner," with James Stewart and Margaret Sullivan, the Judy Garland-Van Johnson film and the current Tom Hanks Meg Ryan movie, "You've Got Mail."
Barrymore-nominated BRT artistic director Edward Keith Baker directs a cast that includes Bethe B. Austin, who recently won a Barrymore Award for Best Supporting Actress as Katy in Texas Flyer. Austin will play Ilona Ritter, Amalia Balish's wise-cracking worldly friend. Also in the cast are Christopher Lynn (Georg Nowack), M. Kathryn Quinlan (Amalia Balish), Alex Santoriello (Steven Kodlay) and Herman Petras (Mr. Maraczek).
