Film & TV News Bette Midler Signs on for Julie Taymor’s Gloria Steinem Biopic The Hello, Dolly! Tony winner joins a cast led by Julianne Moore as the feminist icon and activist.

Julie Taymor’s upcoming Gloria Steinem biopic has just added Tony Award-winning Hello, Dolly! star Bette Midler to its cast.

Midler, known for her roles in The First Wives Club, Beaches, and The Rose, will play activist, lawyer, and politician Bella Abzug, according to Deadline.com.

Julianne Moore will star as Steinem in the film that has a script by Tony-winning Lion King director Taymor and Tony-nominated playwright Sarah Ruhl (In the Next Room, Eurydice). Steinem herself is on board as executive producer on the film that will begin shooting in Savannah, Georgia, in early 2019.
