The world premiere of Mel DeMind's dark comedy Big Head Women will take place Feb. 9, at the Alliance Theatre in Burbank, directed by Jeff Doucette, who earned a LADCC Award for Best Actor in 199l for his performance in Rage! Or I'll Be Home for Christmas.
DeMind's work, running through March 18, is set in the year 2999, when cloning is the only means of reproduction and the male species has been extinct for nearly seven centuries. To understand the origins of the "big head women" who currently inhabit the planet, scholars examine three fateful days in 1999 on a farm in Toolerville, Nebraska, where they believe lie the answers that transformed mankind forever.
The cast includes Todd Robert Anderson, Minda Burr, Hannah Castelluccio, Hilary Davis, Doucette, Candice Kristensun, Ted Knotter, Daniel Lewk, Shannon Presby and Clara York.
Alliance Theatre is located at 3204 W. Magnolia Blvd. For tickets and information call (818) 846-5456.
