News Billy Elliot Musical Likely Dancing Its Way Back to Screen The Broadway musical adaptation of Billy Elliot is likely in the works to dance its way back to screen, according to Stephen Daldry, who helmed both the original film and stage musical.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Daldry revealed that he and collaborator Lee Hall (who wrote both the film and the musical) are "thinking about turning it back into a movie now. So it might go from movie to stage show to broadcast to movie again."

Billy Elliot was filmed live in London in 2014 and broadcast in cinemas across the globe last fall. The Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical has a score by Elton John.

Daldry is currently back on Broadway with The Audience, the Peter Morgan drama that stars Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II. As previously reported, Daldry is also attached to bring Wicked to the big screen. His next Broadway project is another London transfer, Skylight starring Carey Mulligan and Bill Nighy.
