Le Black Kat is continuing its premiere season with Caryl Churchill's 1983 drama, Fen. The show will play the Boston Center for the Arts (539 Tremont Street), opening April 15 and running through May 2.

Churchill is considered to be a formidable British writer. The Times of London called her "the most imaginative, radical and stylistically innovative dramatist writing today."

After attending a workshop in a small village in the Fens, an area of marshes and farmland north of London, Churchill wrote this story that deals with farmwomen who work in the field today. She outlines their struggle with the past -- a history of anger, violence and starvation -- and dramatizes how it affects the women today.

Fen is directed by Michael O'Halloran, and the cast features Ciaran Crawford, Cyndi Geller, Nicole Jesson, Jennifer Jones, Ann Leacock, Lynne Moulton and Mel Yiasemide. The design team includes Joanne Savage (set), Sarah Pruitt (costumes) and Kathy Maloney (lighting). Music has been composed by Steve Gilbane.

Founded by former members of the Catbox Cabaret ensemble, Le Black Kat made its debut last fall with Brecht's Threepenny Opera. Tickets to Fen are $12-$15 and available by calling (617) 426-7700.
