News   Blank Theatre to Stage Terre Haute, Santaland and Cradle Will Rock
Marc Blitzstein's Depression Era musical The Cradle Will Rock will be staged by Hollywood's Blank Theatre Company as part of its 20th anniversary season.

Edmund White's Terre Haute will launch the season Oct. 2. Kirsten Sanderson will direct the Southern California premiere of the play that will run through Nov. 14. The drama imagines the correspondence between Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh and acclaimed author Gore Vidal.

Nicholas Brendon will reprise his performance in David Sedaris' The Santaland Diaries Nov. 19-Dec. 19. Joe Mantello adapted Sedaris' work for the stage, which tells of one man's experience working as an elf at Macy's.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Blank will revive The Cradle Will Rock, which will run Feb. 5-March 20, 2011. Daniel Henning, who staged the work at the Blank to acclaim in 1994, will again direct the Blitztein musical about greed, corruption and the working class as a group of workers attempts to unionize.

The Blank will also re-release its 1995 complete cast album of The Cradle Will Rock to coincide with the spring engagement.

A fourth production of a new American play, which will run April-May 2011, will be announced shortly. For tickets, phone (323) 661-9827 or visit TheBlank.
