Blu-Ray Release of Mary Martin's Classic Peter Pan Delayed to Sept. 3 | Playbill

News Blu-Ray Release of Mary Martin's Classic Peter Pan Delayed to Sept. 3 The 1955 and 1956 telecasts of Peter Pan — starring Mary Martin as Peter Pan and Cyril Ritchard as Captain Hook — were scheduled to be available on special edition Blu-ray as of Aug. 25, but the distributor told buyers this week that the release has been postponed to Sept. 3.

Orders received will be mailed out that day. No reason was given for the delay.

The Blu-ray disk includes special features, such as reminiscences by Heller Halliday, daughter of Mary Martin and Richard Halliday, who played the role of Liza in Peter Pan
as well as the 1955 NBC "Telesales Promo" for the first telecast.

The original telecast was recorded just nine days after the musical closed on Broadway. It was directed by Jerome Robbins. The next telecast performance, which featured the same cast, was filmed in 1956.

The cast of Peter Pan also includes Kathy Nolan as Wendy and Sondra Lee as Tiger Lily. Peter Pan, based on the play by J.M. Barrie, features music by Mark Charlap and lyrics by Carolyn Leigh.
