The new musical was penned by Scott Warrender (music) and Jim Luigs (book/lyrics), the creators of the critically acclaimed Das Barbecü. The latter, a Texas-themed musical based on Wagner's "Ring" cycle, has received more than 150 productions worldwide. The Plexiglass reading will feature the talents of Tony Award winner Michele Pawk, The Little Mermaid's Sierra Boggess, Chicago's John Schneider and Julie Johnson, who received a Theatre World Award for her performance in Off-Broadway's Das Barbecü.

In The Plexiglass Slipper, press notes state, "Luigs and Warrender dismantle the ancient Cinderella myth and recreate it as a modern, comedic fable." Luigs will direct the reading with musical direction by Warrender.
