John Bolton, who plays Boston drama critic Daryl Grady, will play police detective Frank Cioffi in Hyde Pierce's absence.

Performances of the murder mystery musical by Rupert Holmes, Peter Stone, John Kander and Fred Ebb continue at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

Bolton appeared in the original companies of Spamalot, Contact and Titanic, all of which won the Tony Award for Best Musical. His other Broadway gigs were How to Succeed… and Damn Yankees, plus Off-Broadway's Five Course Love and It's Only Life.

Curtains concerns a backstage murder in a company that's testing a new musical in Boston. A theatre-loving detective gets entangled in the case — and with members of the cast. It's billed as "the musical comedy whodunit."

The musical was nominated for eight 2007 Tony Awards including Best Musical.
