A song from the highly anticipated West End "Bollywood" musical Bombay Dreams will be released on June 17.

Shakalaka Baby will be sung by 21-year-old Preeya Kalidas who plays the female lead in the show. It will be the first single from the cast album, which is due to be released on the Sony label in late June, to coincide with the opening of the show.

The story, set in Bombay (or Mumbai), centers on Akaash and Priya: two lovers from different worlds, sharing one dream. The album has been produced by the show's composer, A. R. Rahman, and Marius De Vries, award-winning producer of the "Moulin Rouge" soundtrack. Composer A. R. Rahman is a phenomenon in his native India where he is best known for the thrilling scores to such movies as "Roja, Lagaan" and "Dil Se." With book by Meera Syal ("Bhaji on the Beach," "Goodness Gracious Me," "Anita and Me") and lyrics by Don Black (Aspects of Love, Sunset Boulevard), Bombay Dreams promises fantasy and glamour, epic spectacle and heart-aching romance.

Bombay Dreams begins previews on May 31 and opens on June 19 at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.
