Classic Arts News Boston Pops Begins Holiday Performances The Boston Pops opens its annual holiday season at Symphony Hall tonight with conductor Keith Lockhart on the podium. The concerts run through December 31.
The 39 concerts, which include seven kids' matinees, feature selections from the Pops' 2004 album Sleigh Ride and other seasonal favorites. On December 29 and 30, the Pops will perform four concerts with the Von Trapp Family Singers; the Von Trapps, the great-grandchildren of the Captain von Trapp portrayed in The Sound of Music, will perform songs from the film as well as folk and classical tunes.

The Pops season ends with a New Year's Eve event featuring a concert, dancing, and desserts.

Lockhart, principal guest conductor Bruce Hangen, and other conductors will alternate on the podium.
