News Boston's Lyric Stage Opens Season With Sweeney Todd Tonight The Lyric Stage Company of Boston opens its season with Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, directed by Spiro Veloudos, Sept. 5.

The production runs through Oct. 11.

The cast includes Christopher Chew as Sweeney Todd, Amelia Broome as Mrs. Lovett, Sam Simahk as Anthony Hope, Meghan LaFlam as Joanna, Phil Tayler as Tobias Ragg, Paul Soper as Judge Turpin, Remo Airaldi as the Beadle, Lisa Yuen as Beggar Woman, Davron S. Monroe as Adolfo Pirelli and Rishi Basu as Jonas Fogg.

Rounding out the ensemble are Teresa Winner Blume, Shonna Cirone, Serge Clivio, Christina English, Sarah Kornfeld, Aaron Michael Ray and Matt Spano.

Lyric Stage's wide-ranging season also includes Dear Elizabeth by Sarah Ruhl, directed by A. Nora Long (Sept. 5 – Oct. 11); The Tale of the Allergist's Wife by Charles Busch, directed by Larry Coen (Oct. 17 – Nov. 9); Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins by Margaret and Allison Engel, directed by Spiro Veloudos (Jan. 2-31, 2015); Intimate Apparel by Lynn Nottage, directed by Summer L. Williams (Feb. 13 – March 14); Light Up the Sky by Moss Hart, directed by Scott Edmiston (May 8 – June 6) and one more show yet to be announced.
