Robert O'Hara (Wild With Happy, The Brother/Sister Plays, Eclipsed) will stage the two-actor drama that imagines the final night of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s life, when a mysterious woman knocks on the door of his room at the Lorraine Motel. It will run through Feb. 3, 2013.

Here's how it's billed: "Taking place on April 3, 1968, The Mountaintop is a gripping re-imagining of events the night before the assassination of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. After delivering one of his most memorable speeches, an exhausted Dr. King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel. A provocative maid arrives to seduce the 39-year-old powerful leader. Their encounter depicts King, the man, as he confronts his fate."

Kalukango, who will portray Camae, appeared Off-Broadway in Katori Hall's Hurt Village and Eve Ensler's Emotional Creature and the Off-Broadway revival of Rent. Wright will star as King, Jr. His stage appearances include TogDog/UnderDog, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Dreamer Examines His Pillow and Fences.

The Mountaintop premiered at London's Theatre 503 in June 2009. The play transferred to the Trafalgar Studio 1 in the West End and earned the Olivier Award for Best Play. It arrived on Broadway to mixed reviews in fall 2011 starring Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett.

The Alley production has scenic and costume design by Clint Ramos and lighting design by Japhy Weidman. Sound design is by Lindsay Jones with projection design by Jeff Sugg. Jacey Little is the dramaturg.

Tickets are available by visiting AlleyTheatre. The Alley Theatre is located at 615 Texas Avenue in Houston, TX.
