The Gospel of John, the most symbolic of the Christian gospels based on the life of Jesus Christ, will be performed by Georgia actor Brad Sherrill Jan. 16-Feb. 4 on the Theatre in the Square's Alley Stage.

Unlike the other gospels, which relate the life of Christ in a more straightforward fashion, the Gospel of John presents a spiritual and symbolic portrait of Christ as the lamb of God, the living water and the shepherd keeping watch over his sheep. The true authorship of the Gospel of John is unknown, but Christian tradition holds that St. John the apostle, who was present at Christ's crucifixion, wrote the book.

Sherrill has acted professionally in Atlanta since 1983. His many credits include work with the Alliance, Theatre Emory, Actor's Express, Georgia Shakespeare Festival and Theatre in the Square's Wuthering! Heights! The! Musical!, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and The Heiress.

Tickets are $15-$10. The Theatre in the Square is located at 11 Whitlock Avenue in Marietta. For reservations, call (770) 422-8369. Theatre in the Square is on the web at http://www.theatreinthesquare.com.
