LOS ANGELES -- In celebration of the 100th anniversary of radical writer/director Bertolt Brecht's birth, the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is presenting Brecht on Brecht, Mar. 28- May 10.

The theatrical collage of readings and enactments from his work includes philosophical musings, poetry, ideology, advice to actors and critics and excerpts from plays and songs.

Arranged and translated by George Tabori and directed by Ron Sossi with musical direction by John Jay Estino, Brecht on Brecht has a cast that includes Jack Axelrod, Sheelagh Cullen, Tom Lillard, Greg Mullavey, Erin Noble, Camille Saviola, Maureen Teefy, Robert Thaler and Kenneth Tigar.

Tabori notes in the published edition of Brecht on Brecht that "the tension of the piece is derived from the consistency of Brecht's mind, his relevance, his ruthless ironies and commitments, his cunning, his charm, his rages and his belief that a debate can be more sensuous than an orgy."

Performances are Wed.-Sat. at 8 PM and Sun. at 7 PM. Matinees are 2 PM on April 5 and 19 at the Odyssey, 2055 S. Sepulveda Blvd. For tickets, $18.50-$22.50, call (310) 477-2055. -- By Willard Manus
