HWSY/HWSN, actually comprises two complementary one-acts. Both pieces tell of a young boy deciding whether or not to sacrifice his life so that a mountain expedition might continue their search to find a specific type of medicine. In the first play, the boy makes the altruistic choice, in the other, he does not. Weill wrote music only for HWSY, HWSN is performed without music.

Formed in 1989, NATCO is a company devoted to providing Asian-American actors the opportunity to perform quintessential roles in Western classics. Along with Falsettoland, productions have included Long Day's Journey Into Night, You Can't Take It With You, Our Town, and School for Scandal.

Featured in the cast of HWSY/HWSN are Lexine Bondoc (The King and I), Rich Ceraulo, Elizabeth Chiang, Lydia Gaston (The King and I, Miss Saigon), Frank Kamai, Peter Kim, Thomas Kouo, Alan Muraoka (Miss Saigon, The King and I) Timothy Murphy, and Eileen Rivera.
