Brian Dennehy will give theatregoers at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center a taste of his upcoming Broadway performance as James Tyrone at a July 9 reading of Eugene O'Neill's Long Day’s Journey Into Night. The one night-only event will take place at 6:30. For more information call (860) 443-5378. Dennehy will play Tyrone in a new production directed by Robert Falls and produced by David Richenthal. The show will start at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago Feb. 22, 2002 for an opening there March 4 and a run through April 6, allowing it then to travel to Broadway for the late spring Tony rush. The Dennehy Falls-Richenthal team also produced the acclaimed Broadway revival of Death of a Salesman.

Additional casting for the reading is yet to be announced. Likewise, complete casting of the 2002 production is not concrete, though names like Jessica Lange, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Billy Crudup have been mentioned.
