Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, most recently seen on Broadway in Shuffle Along, will perform with the Kansas City Symphony in an October 7 concert of Broadway tunes from his nearly three-decade career.

Taking place in Helzberg Hall at the Kauffman Center in Kansas City, Missouri, the concert is designed as a benefit for Kansan City Young Audiences.

Mitchell’s song list includes “Some Enchanted Evening” from South Pacific, “Stars” from Les Misérables, a Gershwin medley (“’S Wonderful,” “I Got Rhythm,” “Fascinatin’ Rhythm,” “Our Love is Here to Stay”) and “The Impossible Dream” from Man of La Mancha.

Mitchell won the 2000 Tony, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama Desk awards for his performance as Fred Graham/Petruchio in Kiss Me, Kate. His other Broadway credits include lead roles in King Hedley II, Ragtime, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Jelly's Last Jam, Oh, Kay!, and Man of La Mancha. He is also chairman of the Board of the Actors Fund. Last year, he was named winner of the Isabelle Stevenson Award from the Tony Awards and was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame.
