News Bridget Everett Hits Rock Bottom As Public's Season Opener Rock Bottom, the outrageous evening from downtown darling Bridget Everett, will open the Public Theater's season at its Astor Place home beginning Sept. 9 at Joe's Pub.

Created by Everett along with Hairspray Tony Award winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, as well as Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz and Matt Ray, Rock Bottom will officially open Sept. 17. Performances continue through Oct. 11. Wittman also directs the evening of story and song.

Prior to the season launch, Everett will perform Rock Bottom at Joe's Pub July 9 and 10. The piece was originally commissioned as part of the Joe’s Pub 2013 New York Voices series.

According to the Public, "Rock Bottom is the story of what happens when you’re too passionate to give up, and too big to fail. In it, Everett barrels through life tip-toeing toward disaster, wine bottle by wine bottle and man by man. However, instead of succumbing to a chardonnay-induced stupor, Everett embraces a series of revelations that lead her and her voice of an angel to redemption. It features new original songs written with Shaiman, Wittman, Ray and Horovitz, as well as familiar favorites heard in Everett’s monthly sold-out showcase with her band The Tender Moments at Joe's Pub."

Everett, who appears at Joe's Pub monthly, has also appeared in At Least It's Pink, Jukebox Jackie, "Sex and the City," "Two Broke Girls," "Inside Amy Schumer," and as a special guest for Patti LuPone's Carnegie Hall concert last fall.

Member tickets will go on sale July 10. Single tickets go on sale July 29. Phone (212) 967-7555 or visit publictheater.org. There will be no food or drink minimum for Rock Bottom at Joe's Pub.
