News Brightman, Karr, Johnson, Weiss and Mendez Will Sing Oliver Tunes at Joe's Pub The work of composer-lyricist Ryan Scott Oliver, a 2009 Jonathan Larson Grant recipient, will be explored May 4 at Joe's Pub.

Currently scheduled to appear are composer Oliver as well as Alex Brightman (Wicked), Morgan Karr (Spring Awakening), Jay Johnson (Hair), Natalie Weiss (Wicked) and Lindsay Mendez (Grease). Show time is 11:30 PM. Ryan Scott Oliver, according to the Joe's Pub website, "will bring sexy schoolteachers, Bostonian rent-boys, obsessive homicidal teenagers, and fairy dust to Joe's Pub." Travis Greisler will direct.

Ryan Scott Oliver wrote the music and lyrics for Mrs. Sharp (2008 Richard Rodgers Award winner), Darling (Pace New Musicals 2009), the song cycle Out of My Head, music for Angus Oblong's The Debbies and music and co-lyrics for the YouTube TV show "The Battery's Down."

Rob Shapiro and Alexander Rea will produce the evening.
