News "Bring On The Men": Jekyll & Hyde, Starring Constantine Maroulis in Title Roles, Arrives on Broadway April 5 Following a national tour, the 13-week limited Broadway engagement of Jekyll & Hyde begins previews at Broadway's Marquis Theatre April 5 prior to an official opening April 18.

Performances will continue at the Marquis (1535 Broadway) through June 30. Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun (Newsies, Bonnie & Clyde, Big River) directs and choreographs.

Constantine Maroulis, a Tony nominee for his performance in Rock of Ages, heads the cast in the dual title roles of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde with Grammy-nominated R&B star Deborah Cox as Lucy, Teal Wicks as Emma Carew, Laird Mackintosh as John Utterson and Richard White as Sir Danvers Carew. 

Rounding out the cast are David Benoit, Stephen Mitchell Brown, Jerry Christakos, Dana Costello, Wendy Fox, Brian Gallagher, Sean Jenness, Mel Johnson Jr., James Judy, Ashley Loren, Courtney Markowitz, Aaron Ramey, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Rob Richardson, Blair Ross, Doug Storm, Haley Swindal and Jason Wooten.

Conceived for the stage by Tony and Grammy nominee Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden, the four-time Tony-nominated musical Jekyll & Hyde features a book and lyrics by two-time Oscar winner, Emmy winner and four-time Tony Award nominee Leslie Bricusse and music by Wildhorn.

The production also features scenic and costume design by Tobin Ost, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, sound design by Ken Travis, hair and wig design by Charles G. Lapointe and projection design by Daniel Brodie. Orchestrations are by Kim Scharnberg. Musical supervision and arrangements are by Jason Howland. The music director is Steven Landau, and the music coordinator is David Lai. Richard J. Hinds is the associate director/choreographer.

Jekyll & Hyde is based on the novella "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" by Robert Louis Stevenson, about "a London doctor who accidentally unleashes his evil alternate personality in his quest to cure his father's mental illness," according to production notes.

Following a 30-city tour, the original Broadway production opened at The Plymouth Theatre April 28, 1997, and earned four Tony Award nominations. Directed by Robin Phillips and choreographed by Joey Pizzi, the production starred Robert Cuccioli, Linda Eder and Christiane Noll. After 1,543 performances and featuring such replacements as Sebastian Bach and David Hasselhoff in the title role, the production played its final performance Jan. 7, 2001.

Jekyll & Hyde is produced by Nederlander Presentations, Inc., Independent Presenters Network, Chunsoo Shin, Luigi Caiola and Stewart F. Lane/Bonnie Comley.

"American Idol" finalist Maroulis earned a 2009 Best Actor Tony Award nomination for portraying Drew, an aspiring musician with pipes of steel in the Tony-nominated musical Rock of Ages. He originated the role in the Off-Broadway production at New World Stages in 2008. He has also appeared on Broadway in The Wedding Singer, Off-Broadway in Jacques Brel… and the national tour of Rent.
