Desiree Armfeldt, from A Little Night Music

Original Costume Designer: Florence Klotz (Tony Award Winner)
Bear Costume Designer: Jeff Johnson-Doherty
Signed by Glynis Johns, Hal Prince and Stephen Sondheim

It was in an understated (but elegant!) ensemble that Desiree made her first entrance to sing of the joys of theatrical touring (such as they are). Here in this recreation, her gown is of mossy green chiffon with a cascade of chiffon criss-crossing her bosom. Her waist is cinched with a mossy satin sash adorned with roses and pearls. Her overskirt is pearl-embroidered as are the train of her skirt and her sleeves. To gild the lily more she wears a creme-colored chapeau of willow plumes, beaded lace roses and carnations, all embraced by a creme net blusher securely attached with two hat pins. Around her shoulders she wears a chiffon, voile and organdy boa finished with 2 tassels. Her satin-gloved hands hold a beaded handbag in one and a parasol in the other. "Heigh-ho the glamorous life" indeed!
