Outside Mullingar, the John Patrick Shanley play that opened last week at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre to very positive reviews, didn't sell out as a result of those notices, but it did post a very respectable 93 percent. As with last week, that was the best showing of any play currently running on Broadway. Look for that number to pick up a bit in weeks to come, as the effect of the reviews take hold.

Of the shows yet in previews, the musical The Bridges of Madison County played to houses that were 82 percent full, and the New York Yankees drama Bronx Bombers clocked in at 63% capacity. The latter will open Feb. 6.

As per usual during the month of January, only The Book of Mormon and Twelfth Night/Richard III played to capacity audiences. Coming close, however, were Matilda The Musical at 97 percent, Wicked at 98 percent and The Lion King at 99 percent.

Aside from a few shows, such as The Bridges of Madison County and Kinky Boots, Broadway attractions across the board saw a slight dip in revenue.

Overall, Broadway's numbers were slightly down, from $20,091,732 to $19,122,428, while attendance was up from 196,042 to 198,773. The number of shows held steady at 26.
