It seems that each year more and more Broadway shows try to rush the deadline for the Tony Awards. Largely for that reason, this year may be the busiest April in modern history for new shows. Here is a day-by-day calendar of Broadway events for the month:
April 2: A Doll's House opens at the Belasco Theatre.
April 2: Press preview of refurbished New Amsterdam Theatre
April 3: Dream opens at the Royale
April 3: The Little Foxes begins previews at the Beaumont April 4: The Gin Game begins previews at the Lyceum
April 7: Pulitzer Prize announced (not necessarily to a B'way show)
April 7-8: BC/EFA Easter Bonnet competition at the Palace
April 8: The Life begins previews at the Barrymore
April 8: Grease! reopens after a six-week hiatus at the O'Neill
April 13: An American Daughter opens at the Cort
April 16: London Assurance begins previews at Roundabout
April 19: Candide begins previews at the Gershwin
April 20: The Gin Game opens at the Lyceum
April 23: Titanic opens at the Lunt-Fontanne
April 24: Steel Pier opens at the Richard Rodgers
April 26: The Life opens at the Barrymore
April 27: The Little Foxes opens at the Beaumont
April 28: Jekyll & Hyde opens at the Plymouth
April 29: Candide opens at the Gershwin
April 30: London Assurance opens at Roundabout
