The new lab program, The House, aims to advance opportunities for Broadway for All alumni.

Broadway for All has launched a new lab production initiative, The House, to advance opportunities for BFA alumni. The program will bring together seasoned professionals, BFA alumni, and artists from the local community to present new works by unproduced playwrights.

The inaugural production for The House will be Greg T. Nanni’s Love (Among Dreamers). Lab performances of the new play will be held September 1–3 in the black box space of El Barrio Artspace, PS109.

Love (Among Dreamers) follows Morpheus, whose heart has been broken for a million years. They enter a bet with Janus in the hopes of being granted a new beginning, but there's a catch: Morpheus must help two mortal lovers who see each other in their dreams find each other in reality...the one place Morpheus can’t influence. The work is directed by Osh Ashruf (A Strange Loop, Merrily We Roll Along) with movement direction by Nikhil Saboo (Mean Girls, Dear Evan Hansen).

The cast will include Amin El Gamal (Good Trouble), Elijah Guo (High Maintenance, Patriots Day), BFA alum Bernard Scudder, and BFA alum Connor Strycharz.

The House aims to stage two productions annually, focusing on hosting audience members from diverse socio-economic backgrounds ranging from poverty to the low, middle, and upper-income groups.

"For over 10 years now, our core mission at BFA has been to provide rigorous opportunities in the spirit of pluralism and equity in theatre...The House provides the community we’ve built the chance to be working artists alongside seasoned professionals on equal footing as their peers," says Broadway for All Founder and President Ashruf.

The creative team for the inaugural production features composer and music director Ruchir Khazanchi,  associate director Mel Schaffer, sound designer and BFA alum Adrian Acosta, lighting designer Reza Behjat, associate lighting designer and BFA alum Gabriella Rivera, costume designer and BFA alum Kayla Hom, stage and co-props designer Olivia Beens, co-props designer Giannina Gutierrez, intimacy coordinator Kendall Allen, technical director Kim Sanchez, and production stage manager Luisa Sánchez Colón.

Kristen Wolf serves as executive producer, and BFA alumni Luka Kain and Asha Roberts serve as co-producers. Amelia Corrada is marketing associate, and Rolinda Ramos is Director of Programming El Barrio’s Artspace PS109.
