For the week ending September 17, the 25 running Broadway productions took in a cumulative gross of $21,640,927, a 1.44% increase from the previous week. The slight increase is likely due to the fact that three more productions were playing the Main Stem.

Attendance also rose by 6.87% with 203,025 people attending a Broadway production at an average paid admission of $106.59.

Among the new shows currently running are four productions that began previews last week: Purlie Victorious at the Music Box (opening September 27), Melissa Etheridge: My Window at Circle in the Square (opening September 28), Jaja's Hair Braiding at the Friedman (opening October 3), and Gutenberg! The Musical! at the James Earl Jones (opening October 12).

The highest-grossing show last week was, once again, Disney's The Lion King, which brought in $1,834,382 at the Minskoff. Others in the top five included the Pulitzer Prize-winning Hamilton ($1,708,507), the gravity-defying Wicked ($1,526,289), the Michael Jackson bio musical MJ ($1,477,234), and Disney's other Broadway entry, Aladdin ($1,225,175). Missing from the lineup: the hit revival of Sweeney Todd, a regular member of The $1 Million Club, which canceled its September 15 performance after a technical malfunction and reimbursed theatregoers.

Of the 25 shows running last week, 16 played to over 90% capacity. See the complete list below.
