Anyone who's watched New York City television for any length of time during the past couple decades knows the hoary old Broadway-style commercial advertising the attractions of The Milford Plaza, the midtown hotel located on Eighth Avenue between 44th and 45th Street. Well, the lodging house that eternally hums the "Lullaby of Broadway" turns 20 this month. The Milford Plaza opened in 1980, when Times Square's current economic and architectural rebirth was just a daydream in the heads of wishful-thinking producers. At the time, the League of New York Theatres and Producers dubbed the building the "Official Broadway Theater Hotel."
