The Broadway revival of Once Upon A Mattress starring Sarah Jessica Parker will close Saturday, May 31. The cast will give its final performance as part of the June 1 Tony Awards ceremony.

The revival, directed by Gerald Gutierrez, opened Dec. 19, 1996. The show got mixed to negative reviews for the most part, but hung on for several months by targeting family audiences and releasing a cast CD on RCA Victor. When the show ends May 31, it will have played 33 previews and 187 regular performances at the Broadhurst Theatre.

One promotion that worked very well for Mattress has been the Thursday "Kids Night," with children, 4-14, getting a free ticket when accompanied by a full-paid adult. From now through the end of the show's run, the producers are making every performance Kid's Night. Tickets may be purchased at the box office or by telephone (give the code "NVKID"). (The offer may not be combined with any other discount and does not apply to previously purchased tickets.)
