News Broadway on Broadway 2006, Hosted by Martin Short, Presented Sept. 10 Broadway on Broadway 2006, the annual free Times Square concert presented by The League of American Theatres and Producers, will be offered Sept. 10. Martin Short, the Tony-winning actor currently starring in Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, hosts.

Several Tony winners, a few "American Idol" finalists and a slew of Broadway favorites will be part of the annual event. Expect to see LaChanze, Constantine Maroulis, Diana DeGarmo, Frenchie Davis, Josh Strickland, Hunter Foster, John Treacy Egan, Eden Espinosa, Kate Reinders, Bob Martin and Beth Leavel.

Broadway on Broadway 2006, scheduled for 11:30 AM, will likely draw a crowd of over 50,000 theatre fans. Those attendees can expect to enjoy performances from the casts of Avenue Q, Beauty and the Beast, The Color Purple, The Drowsy Chaperone, Hairspray, Jersey Boys, The Lion King, Mamma Mia!, The Producers, Rent, Spamalot, Tarzan, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Wedding Singer and Wicked plus the soon-to-open productions of Les Misérables, High Fidelity, Grey Gardens, Jay Johnson: The Two and Only! and The Times They Are A-Changin’.

The line-up for the concert, according to a League spokesperson, follows:
