News Broadway Spring Awakening Holds Open Call for Deaf Actors The upcoming Broadway revival of Spring Awakening, which will be performed by an ensemble consisting of hearing, deaf and hard-of-hearing actors, will hold a open call for deaf actors in New York City July 16.

According to the casting notice, this production of Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik's musical is looking for "Male and Female Deaf Actors of all ethnicities, ages late teens – 50s, for principal and ensemble roles. Must be fluent in ASL. Excellent and musical actors." "Open call," meaning you don't have to be a member of Actors' Equity Association to audition, will be held 10:30 AM-12:30 PM at Telsey + Company, 311 West 43rd Street, 10th floor. Sign-in begins at 10 AM. Auditioners are asked to prepare a brief monologue or brief ASL song. Bring a photo/resume stapled together.

Craig Burns of Telsey + Company will be managing the casting process. Rehearsals begin Aug. 10, previews start Sept. 8 and the show opens Sept. 27.
