The 35th anniversary revival of Harvey Fierstein’s landmark drama Torch Song Trilogy returns to Broadway this season in a new production starring Michael Urie as Arnold Beckoff (the role playwright Fierstein originated) opposite Tony winner Mercedes Ruehl as his mother.

Billed as Torch Song for its Broadway return, Fierstein has edited his original trilogy down to two acts.

The Moisés Kaufman-helmed revival begins previews October 9 at the Helen Hayes Theatre, where the original, Tony-winning 1982 production ran for over 1,222 performances. Before performances kicked off, members of the Broadway community were invited to come out and see the final dress rehearsal. Torch Song will open November 1.
