As previously reported, U.K. actress Tracie Bennett, who earned an Olivier Award nomination for inhabiting Garland in the music-filled work, will repeat her performance for American audiences when End of the Rainbow first arrives at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, MN, Jan. 28-March 11, 2012.

Terry Johnson, who staged the Tony-winning revival of La Cage aux Folles, directs the production, which is aiming to arrive on Broadway around March 18, 2012, toward an opening night in late March or early April.

A fresh team of American actors will be assembled to join Bennett at the Guthrie and later on Broadway. The main characters in the play also include Mickey Deans, Garland's last husband, as well as a pianist named Anthony.

The Guthrie Theater, Lee Dean, Laurence Myers and Joey Parnes produce End of the Rainbow, according to the casting notice. The producers have not made an official announcement about exact and final dates for Broadway.

According to the Guthrie, Rainbow's End centers on "Minnesota's own international superstar Judy Garland months before her untimely death. Set in London in 1968, the play combines humor and heartbreak, and features an onstage band to accompany a few of Garland's most memorable songs including 'The Man That Got Away,' 'Come Rain or Come Shine,' 'The Trolley Song' and 'Over the Rainbow.'"

End of the Rainbow is currently on a U.K. tour after a celebrated run after playing the West End's Trafalgar Studios last season.
