The Broadway production of the new musical A Bronx Tale welcomes Christiani Pitts and Will Coombs to the roles of Jane and Young Calogero, respectively, at the Longacre Theatre.
Pitts begins performances as Jane August 31. She replaces Ariana DeBose, who plays her final performance August 30.
She previously understudied the role and appeared in the ensemble, marking her Broadway debut. Her additional credits include Rent, Aida, Big Fish, and Cabaret; her film appearances include Big Momma’s House 3, and Like Father Like Son.
Coombs, who started earlier this month, took over from Hudson Loverro and shares the role with Jonah Mussolino.
Coombs, A Bronx Tale ensemble member, was also seen in the national tour of Matilda.
The ensemble features Michelle Aravena, Gilbert L. Bailey II, Joe Barbara, Michael Barra, Jonathan Brody, Ted Brunetti, Brittany Conigatti, Kaleigh Cronin, John Gardiner, Rory Max Kaplan, Charlie Marcus, Janelle McDermoth, Shannon Mullen, Robert Neary, Dominic Nolfi, Wonu Ogunfowora, Brandon O’Neill, Paul Salvatoriello, Joseph J. Simeone, Joey Sorge, Cary Tedder, Keith White, and Christopher Henry Young.
A Bronx Tale has a book by Academy Award nominee Chazz Palminteri, music by Oscar, Grammy, and Tony Award winner Alan Menken, and lyrics by Grammy winner and Oscar and Tony nominee Glenn Slater. It is co-directed by two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro and four-time Tony winner Jerry Zaks, with choreography by Tony nominee Sergio Trujillo.
