The Denver Center for the Performing Arts announced Jan. 29 that If/Then will play an Oct. 13-25 premiere tour engagement at the Buell Theatre.
As previously reported, If/Then will also play a Los Angeles engagement at the Pantages Theatren Dec. 8-Jan. 3, 2016.
Casting for the national tour of If/Then has not been determined. The Broadway production, which stars Tony Award winner Idina Menzel, ends its run March 22.
Additional tour dates will begin rolling out at theatres across the U.S. in the coming months.
If/Then has music by Kitt, with book and lyrics by Yorkey. The writers earned the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize for penning Next to Normal. If/Then earned Tony Award nominations for Best Original Score and Best Actress (Menzel). Michael Greif directed the production that began previews March 5, 2014, and opened March 30 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. It is produced by David Stone (Wicked, Next to Normal).
According to creators, "If/Then follows two distinct storylines in the life of Elizabeth, a city planner who moves back to New York to re-start her life in that city of infinite possibilities. When her carefully designed plans collide with the whims of fate, Elizabeth’s life splits into two parallel paths. If/Then follows both stories simultaneously as this modern woman faces the intersection of choice and chance."
If/Then has choreography by Larry Keigwin, set design by Tony Award nominee Mark Wendland (Next to Normal, The Merchant of Venice), costume design by Emily Rebholz (Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson; Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike), lighting design by Tony Award winner Kenneth Posner (Kinky Boots, Wicked) and sound design by Tony Award winner Brian Ronan (Next To Normal, The Book of Mormon). Casting for the Broadway production is by Telsey + Co, Craig Burns CSA.
If/Then will be presented in Denver as part of the DCPA 2015-16 Broadway season. The remaining shows on the slate will be announced shortly. Visit denvercenter.org.
