2002 Tony Award nominees Elizabeth Franz, Frances Sternhagen, William Biff McGuire and Stephen Tobolowksy travel to the Ahmanson Theatre to reprise their roles in the Lincoln Center revival of Morning's at Seven Dec. 11-Jan. 26. Other members of the Broadway cast, including Julie Hagerty, actor-writer Buck Henry and TV's Piper Laurie, are also set for the Los Angeles run with Mary Louise Wilson stepping in for Estelle Parsons and Paul Dooley replacing Christopher Lloyd.
Morning's at Seven concerns the doings of four Midwestern sisters (Franz, Laurie, Sternhagen and Wilson) and three of their husbands (including Henry and McGuire), all in their golden years, as well as Sternhagen's middle-aged son, Homer (Tobolowsky), and his longtime fiancee (Hagerty). The title is taken from a Robert Browning poem that includes the line, "Morning's at seven/God's in his heaven/All's right with the world."
002 Tony Award nominee Daniel Sullivan (Proof) returns to the direct Morning's in Los Angeles. The rest of the acting company includes Lorraine Michaels, Tom Carey, Maree Cheatham, Linda Marie Larson and David Manis.
Morning's at Seven was nominated for the 2002 Best Revival of a Play Tony, but lost to Private Lives. Private Lives and Fortune's Fool were the other two plays the Ahmanson was considering for the holiday run, but the theatre settled on Morning's.
