The 7 PM performance at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 West 45th Street) will benefit the fundraising organization. (In related news, the touring company of Book of Mormon will perform to benefit the Actors Fund Oct. 10 at 2 PM at The Pantages Theatre, 6233 Hollywood Boulevard.)
Special performances, according to the Actors Fund, "are among the most thrilling theatrical experiences, and the hottest tickets in town. Broadway companies generously give their time and talent by adding these special shows to their already rigorous schedules, and perform for audiences full of their peers from the entertainment community."
Here's how the producers characterize the musical: "[Once] tells the story of an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant drawn together by their shared love of music. Over the course of one fateful week, their unexpected friendship and collaboration evolves into a powerful but complicated romance, heightened by the raw emotion of the songs they create together. Brought to the stage by an award-winning team of visionary artists and featuring an ensemble cast of gifted actor/musicians, Once is a musical celebration of life and love: thrilling in its originality, daring in its honesty... and unforgettable in every way."
