Accompanied by a full on-stage orchestra, Cariou — who created the roles of Sweeney Todd and Frederick in Sondheim's Sweeney Todd and A Little Night Music, respectively — will take on his third Sondheim leading-man role. Follies, featuring a book by James Goldman, is set at a reunion of former Follies girls at their old theatre, which is set to be torn down. The musical features the songs "Could I Leave You," "Losing My Mind," "Too Many Mornings," "Broadway Baby," "Beautiful Girls" and "I'm Still Here." The original staging of the show had a pre-Broadway engagement in Boston.

Cariou won his Tony for Sweeney Todd and has also received Tony nominations for his work in Applause and A Little Night Music. Cariou's other Broadway credits include Proof, The Dinner Party, Teddy & Alice, Dance a Little Closer, Cold Storage, Don't Call Back, Night Watch and King Henry V.

The cast of Follies also includes Maryann Zschau, Frank Gayton, Leigh Barrett, Mary Callanan, Kathy St. George, Bobbie Steinbach, Brad Peloquin, Frank Aronson, Jeanine Belcastro, Stephanie Biernbaum, Rachel Cantor, Caroline DeLima, Kate DeLima, Robert DeVivo, Dan Giles, Liane Grasso, Josh Grisetti, Heather Hannon, Jennifer Huth, Paula Markowicz, Barbara Morash, Drew Poling, Deb Poppel, Brent Reno, Sean Roper and Bill Stambaugh.

Spiro Veloudos, producing artistic director of Boston's Lyric Stage Company, directs the concert staging for Overture Productions. Michael Joseph will serve as musical director with Ilyse Robbins handling choreography. Deb Poppel produces. Proceeds for the event and half of the tickets will be donated to Boston-based youth arts programs.
